The essence of the First District. Sometimes forty minutes are enough to feel the pulse of a city forever. During this time, we leave the hustle and bustle behind us and concentrate on the hidden treasures and the major monuments within the ring road. It's the perfect choice for connoisseurs looking for the essentials.
The prelude: Our journey starts centrally between Opera and Albertina. After just the first few meters, the background noise changes: The whirring of the city gives way to the calming clatter of hooves. We will guide you through the narrow, historic streets where Vienna still looks the same today as it did two hundred years ago.
The imperial center: We are heading straight for the heart of power — the Vienna Hofburg. We pass Ballhaus Square and dive into the world of Lipizzaner and the Spanish Riding School. Each palace we pass by tells its own story of nobility, art and the Viennese way of life.
Architecture and history: The trail takes us past architectural masterpieces such as Palais Ferstel and the Burgtheater. You will experience the magnificent facades of Herrengasse, which was once the center of the political life of the monarchy. Here you can feel the density of the story in every stone.
The final passage: We slowly return to the starting point, past hidden passages and Baroque church fronts. These forty minutes leave a lasting impression of what holds Vienna together at its core: consistency, elegance and inimitable charm.

To make it easier for you to get started, all of our historic carriages have low-level intermediate stages. Our coaches/staff is also very experienced and will be happy to help you get on and off. Collapsible wheelchairs or strollers can usually be easily carried at the front of the coachman. Guests who are dependent on an e-wheelchair can store it in lockable metal boxes at the horse-drawn carriage stands.
The Well-Being of Our Horses is the Basis of Our Family Tradition and Our Daily Work. Our philosophy is based on respect and species-appropriate husbandry. We ensure this through strict standards:
- Limited working hours and regular, long breaks.
- Constant supply of fresh water and high-quality feed.
- Regular Veterinary Checks and Hoof Care.
- Spacious stables and daily exercise in the countryside.
- Strict compliance with the “heat-free” rule in summer. For us, our horses are members of the family. You are welcome to contact a Convince stable management of this personally.
The number of working days for Fiaker horses is regulated by law in Vienna and set at 18 days a month. That is equivalent to a 4-day week. Every horse today has a microchip which allows the authorities of the City of Vienna to specifically check compliance with this regulation.
At Fiaker Paul, horses work according to a conscious rotation principle, which gives the horses additional vacation in addition to the legal days off. They spend it at our company's own horse farm in Arbesthal, where we have a total area of 15 ha (equivalent to an area of around 22 soccer fields). We therefore offer our horses significantly more opportunities for free exercise than is required by law.
